Born in Belfast in 1955, I studied mathematics at Queens University Belfast before coming to Leeds University in
1976 obtain my PCSE.
After moving teaching secondary schools I eventually became a head of Mathematics at a Leeds school. In
the early nineties I was an advisory teacher with the LEA, a lecturer in further education before joining Channel 4 television
as an education officer.
Nowadays I combine a part-time job as a tutor at Leeds University with freelance work as an educational
consulatant to schools, Local Authorities and other agencies such as Channel 4 , BBC, Open Mind Productions
